Summer favorite no 1 – to adapt and overcome

I have been impressed by Microsoft since I read a biography on Bill Gates ten years ago. And my admiration of Microsoft’s uncanny ability to adapt and overcome technology shifts has increased over time. Looking back, it is hard to remember that companies like Novell, Alta Vista, SUN, Borland and many others once were considered serious threats to Microsoft. Many critics argue that Microsoft is not as innovative as other IT companies and that they always piggy back on the innovations of other companies. True, but I would argue that the ability to re-invent yourself is more important than cranking out innovative product improvements, especially when you face disruptive technology shifts. The blog post that I rank as my best gives my personal view on what retail bankers can learn from Microsoft. I hope that you enjoy the reading and the remainder of this awesome summer. ¤
